Surgical Correction of the Parotid Duct Fistula

Abstract
|
|
|
Six cases of traumatic parotid duct fistulae were observed at the Department of Surgery, Chon
nam University Hospital during the 4 years period from 1966 to 1969.
All cases were corrected with the ligation of the proximal part of the fistulous duct.
Followings were the results of this method.
1. Five cases out of the six cases were good results without any complication.
2. In one cases out of the six cases, the fistula was recurred in 1 week of the duct ligation, but
this case which was not performed surgical ligation of the fistula, was spontaneously healed with
antibiotic therapy for the surrounding tissue infection.
Perhaps, we thought that the spontaneous closure of the duct was due to the cicatrical contraction
according to healing of the regional infectious tissue.
